Merry Christmas!! Ahem, Christmas in July that is. It is nearly 100 degrees outside and I thought “Hey, what better time to share a holiday nail art design?” LOL! If you follow me on Instagram this design may be familiar to you, as I shared it there this past December. But it didn’t make it onto the blog or my other social media. It is about time to rectify that situation.
Boy has it been quiet around here! I haven’t blogged in 9 months (Nine. Months.) and I have to tell you that getting this post underway is HARD! The words just won’t come and I’ve been staring at a blinking cursor for longer than I care to admit. My creative juices left me shortly after I made this design last December and I’m still awaiting their return. So I’ve been poking around on here lately reviewing some of my old designs, perhaps hoping they will inspire me, and I started feeling guilty for not documenting this Christmas design. Someday I will want to look back on this one too, right?
The inspiration for this design came from a holiday nail art contest hosted by Daily Charme on Instagram. Anyone could enter a design that made use of at least one product sold by Daily Charme. I decided I could do much better than just ONE and I ended up including 8 of them. I’ll just get right to the punch line and let you know that I WON THE CONTEST! It was super exciting and I received this amazing prize package! Suffice to say there will be plenty more Daily Charme designs when my mojo returns!
This design is yet another lacquer/gel combination, as I wanted to continue a “White Christmas” nail art tradition that I started in 2014 using Girly Bits Eggnogoholic. I got distracted in 2016, but my designs from previous years include White Christmas and Deck The Tree.
I applied 2 coats to my middle and ring fingers and allowed it to dry completely before topping it with Madam Glam No Wipe Gel Topcoat. My thumb and pinky nails received a coat of Madam Glam Perfect Black gel polish and Gossip Gel Specular No-Rub topcoat, curing as needed in preparation for chrome powder.
In case you are wondering, I decided to top Eggnogoholic with gel topcoat for a worry-free stamping experience. If I didn’t place my stamps just right I could easily remove them with some acetone and try again with no fear of damage to my base.
Then it was time to stamp. I started with the tree branches from Clear Jelly Stamper Pines and Poinsettias Christmas plate CJSC-08 stamped with their #61 Glitzy Evergreen stamping polish. To add some depth, I double stamped the branches with Mundo de Unas Military Green. Next I stamped 2 bows from Better Not Pout CJSC-17 using Moyra Stamping Polish for Foil in Black and pressed Red Moyra Magic Foil onto the image.
Next, I got to work on the “ornaments”. I placed a Clou Oval Frame onto wet gel topcoat on my middle finger and cured. Then I did the same thing with a rrieenee Loopleaf on my ring finger. These frames, and many others, are available from Daily Charme.
I applied a small amount of Daily Charme Stick On Gelly in the center of the frames and placed tiny pieces of loose glitter from Dulce Nail Sprinkles. Then I used a detail brush to add ibd Clear Builder Gel into the frames until I had a “rounded mound” to give a 3D effect. Lastly, I added a touch of gold foil stamping and gold caviar beads to the oval ornament.
Finally, I used an eyeshadow applicator to rub Daily Charme Metallic Chrome Flake in Ruby onto my thumb and pinky nails. I topped them with a coat of Gossip Gel Specular No-Rub topcoat and added 3 Swarovski Crystals to my pinky before curing. Then I scooped Daily Charme Champagne Gold Metallic glitter over wet gel topcoat on my index finger and cured.

And there you have it! I recall having a good time creating this design, despite the eye strain from placing minuscule bits of glitter. Objects on blog are smaller than they appear!! I am happy that I took the time (Four. Hours.) to write up this post and I hope you’ve enjoyed reading it. Do you have any holiday nail art traditions? I’d love to hear about them!
Thanks for reading! Until next time,
