Hello and welcome to the 2nd edition of Tribal Tuesday! What’s Up Nails released a few new stamping plates recently, including an Aztec/Tribal that I could not wait to get my hands on. And let me just say that it did not disappoint!

Would you just look at all of these awesome tribal designs! It was so hard to pick just 2 images from What’s Up Nails B009 Lost In Aztec to use in this nail art!In case you are new to this brand, the plates are etched very well (think MoYou London!) and the designs picked up flawlessly with my favorite clear stamper, the Big Bling from Clear Jelly Stamper. These full nail designs measure 2.1cm x 1.5cm, which is just about long enough for my nails.

Design Details

This design is a combination of gel polish and lacquer. Why you ask? Well, in short, because I am lazy! I did not feel like taking the time to mix up a sheer black polish when I happened to have one available in gel.

For the sheer look I wanted, I applied a single coat of Bundle Monster Smoke + Mirrors to my thumb, middle and pinky nails and cured. I polished the remaining nails with a gorgeous turquoise, Picture Polish Salt Water.

I topped all of my nails with Madam Glam No Wipe Gel Topcoat or Glisten & Glow HK Girl Fast Drying Topcoat accordingly.

Next I stamped my thumb and pinky nails with the same design using Mundo de Unas Black.

Once again I chose the same design for my index and middle finger nails and used the multi-color stamping technique to give it a slightly different look. I stamped them with a combination of Mundo de Unas Black, White and Gold.

To add a bit of texture, I applied gel topcoat to my middle finger nail, scooped on Daily Charme Black Diamond Metallic Glitter Dust and cured. Lastly I added a Long Pyramid Stud, also from Daily Charme.

I mentioned my Native American pottery collection in my first Tribal Tuesday post. Since there were so many great design choices on this What’s Up Nails plate, I sought inspiration from my collection again and I was influenced by these two pots and their stepped triangle patterns.

    • I’m so flattered that you enjoy my nail art so much! {{Insert blushing emoji}} The ideas don’t come as easy as they used to, but I hope to have at least one new design a month. Is there somewhere I can see your art? xo
