Shifty: Nail Art with Magic Shifting Powder

Products: Madam Glam Perfect Black, Madam Glam No Wipe Topcoat, Whats Up Nails Mosaic Stencils, What's Up Nails Magic Shifting Powder in Sunset and Fantasy
Would you be surprised to learn that I own about 2 dozen little jars of nail powders? Probably not, right? But sadly they do not get used nearly enough and I've decided to do something about it. Starting right now with this nail art design that I've aptly named 'Shifty'.

This look is rather easy to create! I started with a base of Madam Glam Perfect Black gel on all nails followed by Madam Glam No Wipe Topcoat, curing as needed.

I chose to use gel for it's expediency, but you could substitute black lacquer. Just be sure it is completely dry before applying the powder.

Next, working on one nail at a time, I applied a Mosaic Stencil from What's Up Nails. Then I used an eyeshadow applicator to rub on What's Up Nails Magic Shifting Powder over the stencil.

I chose Sunset, shown in the container above, for the bottom portion of my nail (by the cuticle) and Fantasy, shown below, for the top. I finished with another coat of Madam Glam No Wipe Topcoat.

If you are using lacquer, it is best to apply a water based topcoat first to maintain the mirror finish followed by a regular glossy topcoat for added durability.

I left a small area of 'negative space' on my ring fingernail and accented it with 3 tiny Swarovski Crystals in Volcano, which displays a range of colors that are similar to these powders.

As you can see, the color shifts from these powders are nothing short of amazing and the finish is the perfect shiny chrome! I even saw colors that weren't in the brand's description so they absolutely deserve to be called "Magic" Shifting Powders.

I have to say, this nail art exceeded my expectations! I knew these were the best chameleon powders on the market, but I could not have predicated the range of colors that popped so easily and kept me gawking at my nails.

What do you think of this look? Have you tried color shifting powders yet?

Thanks for reading! I'll see you at the next post.
