Cozy PJs: Plaid Stamped Nail Art with Moyra

I hope 2017 is off to a good start for everyone. After 2 weeks it feels like it’s time to end my blog vacation and share my first nail art design of the year. My inspiration for this stamped design came from a favorite set of cozy Carole Hochman PJ’s.

I’ve mentioned more than a few times in the past that I’d like to be less verbose in my blogging and I received positive feedback from you. Well, you may have noticed that I seem to give it a go and end up right back to being wordy. So I’m going to try setting it as a goal for 2017. Wish me luck!!

Would you believe I haven’t done a plaid nail art design before?? EVER?? The foundation of this nail art is based on soft pastels from my inspiration plaid PJ pants. I used a grey shade from Lacquer Lust and blue and pink from Essie.

Moyra is making their blog debut with this design. Their Fabric Texture stamping plate contains many great plaid choices and coordinating patterns. I had planned to double stamp the plaid pattern with dark grey and white but decided I liked it better this way.

Design Details

  1. Apply 2 coats of Lacquer Lust Mist over basecoat on all nails and finish with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Fast Drying Topcoat.
  2. Use the polish brush to add random horizontal and vertical stripes of Essie Virgin Snow and Essie Fiji on index, middle and pinky nails. ⇒ TIP: Try to make the lines a bit straighter than mine!!
  3. Stamp the snowflake sweater pattern from Moyra Fabric Texture 02 onto thumb and ring nails using a Clear Jelly Stamper and Mundo de Unas White stamping polish.
  4. Use the same products to stamp a plaid pattern onto remaining nails. Loosely align the pattern with the freehand stripes using the Clear Jelly Stamper.
  5. Float a healthy coat of HK Girl topcoat over all nails.

WOW! This must break a record for the least amount of words! I think it’s perfect for this less complex stamped design but I would really like to know what you think. MORE, LESS, JUST RIGHT?? How about this design? I loved wearing it and thought it was a nice break away from the traditional Christmas colors.

Thanks for reading! I’ll see you at the next post.

  • This plaid design is everything!! It’s totally up to you but I personally love your “wordy” posts. You inject so much of your personality into your writing it is a joy to read!

    • Hey Monica!! Thank you so much for you kind words and feedback! It turns out that it’s harder to write short posts than to use my words…who knew?? 🙂 xoxo

Hi Karolyn, personally I enjoy your “wordy” posts — I feel like I learn more from you about techniques, polishes, embellishments, etc. because you explain things so well. 🙂 Of course, your beautiful photography and nails all contribute to my enjoyment of your posts, too. XOXO Just do what you love, as you always have done — that is what makes you “you”!

    • My Dear Cat, I had you on my mind the entire time I was working on this less wordy post. I nearly included a p.s. just to apologize to you! 🙂 I knew you’d miss the words but I still hope you found this post informative for this type of nail art. I learned while writing this that my posts will very greatly in length based on complexity. So you’ll be happy to hear that I will be doing what I’ve always done more often than not. Thanks so much for the feedback!! xoxo

  • Love your color combination and stamping!

  • You captured the cozy just right with these! I love that you combined brushstrokes with stamping, it gave these the flannel PJ feel. Also, brilliant to include the blue…I wouldn’t have thought it would go, but it is perfect.

And, you know I will enjoy all posts, no matter how short or long. 😉

    • Aww, thanks my friend!! I probably would have left out the blue if not for it being in my flannel PJ pants. I felt like you could see it a bit better in person though. So often the case, right? Thanks for sticking by me through all of my attempts at change! xoxo
