Happy Halloween everyone!! I asked myself “how can you make Halloween spider nail art more interesting”? And my answer was a resounding “use the holographic powder”! Shall we?
I picked up this container of Holographic Mermaid Dust at WiiNo Shop in the beginning of August and it has been waiting patiently on me. Since I had purchased many different powders I planned to work them in sporadically instead of causing powder overload. And I thought it was perfect to use here because spider webs often appear to throw rainbows when they catch sunlight.
This look combines gel and lacquer, holographic powder, vinyls, stamping and a touch of bling. I love how everything plays so nicely together!
I enjoy doing a creepy Halloween design every year. Do you remember my Skulls and Roses
look from last year?
I began with a base of Madam Glam Perfect Black
on each fingernail and cured. Then, working on one nail at a time, I added Gossip No-wipe topcoat
from Daily Charme
and cured. I started to buff on the holographic powder immediately afterward with an eyeshadow applicator.
Once I had the look I wanted, I would smooth off any excess powder with the clean side of the applicator, followed by a fluffy brush, before adding the final layer of Gossip gel and curing. I repeated these steps on all of my nails.
Next I used Spider Web Guides from Disturbed Vinyls to create my webs. Again I worked one nail at a time, applying the guide, sponging Rica Blackout over it with a makeup sponge and doing any needed cleanup after I removed the vinyl.
I followed the same steps to add the large Spider Guide from Disturbed Nails to my middle finger. Then I decided to switch it up a bit and stamped the spider web and dangling spider from Pueen’s Halloween Party 001 plate using Mundo de Unas Black and my Big Bling Clear Jelly Stamper.
Finally, I tried out the effect of several Swarovski Crystals
before settling on Volcano
because I just love it’s color changes. I added a large Pearl Spider
from Winstonia Store
to my ring finger and slipped a Crystal Spider Ring
onto my middle finger.
Now if only all of the photos could have come out as holo-licious as this closeup!!
A few family members were really surprised to see me wearing this design. That’s because they know the truth…that I am scared shit of spiders. There’s no spider too small to scare the hell out of me! If someone doesn’t find it, kill it and show me the carnage I won’t sleep in that room for days. I actually just did a 2 night stint in the Lazy Boy a week or two ago.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this design! I’m also curious about what you are wearing on your nails this Halloween. Be safe and have fun!
I came across an “All Holo’s Eve” linkup in my Hobby Polish FB Group and I thought this design fit perfectly. Don’t forget to scroll down and check out the designs from the other artists in this group.
Thanks for reading. I’ll see you at the next post!
