Wow, this week went by really fast for me! And I always get so excited when I’m creating and sharing the first design of a new season. Because I love fall nail art for all of its rich colors and I am so pleased to show you this design today!
As you may know, I have been working with both gel and lacquer lately. Sometimes even in the same mani like I did with this design. And I promised that this wouldn’t be an all gel blog anytime soon, if ever, and I have this lacquer design to prove it. Not surprisingly, I fell hard for a few colors from KBShimmer’s Fall Collection and I have the first one to show you today.
Tiers of Joy is a winter white polish with pink, gold holographic and nutmeg glitters. I paired it with One Night Sand from the Summer Collection which is a metallic flake and holo polish in a copper/rose gold color that I felt complimented it nicely.
To begin, I used 2 coats of One Night Sand and 3 coats of Tiers of Joy for full coverage. Then I applied a generous coat Girly Bits Glitter Glaze and allowed my nails to dry completely.
Once dry I applied and cured a coat of Akzentz Shine-On gel topcoat. Why you ask? In addition to it adding a super shine to my nails, it protects my mani from my art. Think of it like armor. I can wipe off mistakes with acetone 2-3 times more times without complete destruction than I could if I were wearing a regular topcoat. Not that I should need to fix that many mistakes. Ever.
Now it’s time to decorate! I decided to use Leaves Stencils from What’s Up Nails together with the following metallic colors from M Polish: Baroque, Bronze, Copper, and Elizabethan.
I randomly applied the metallic polishes to a makeup sponge and then dabbed over the stencils until I had the coverage I was looking for. Then I left those 2 nails to dry while I worked on the next step.
Have you seen these Swarovski Nail Art Crystal Packs at Sally Beauty? I had to get a few when they showed them to me at my local store. I already have a large crystal collection, but sometimes I feel like I’m being repetitive. These packs contain unique pieces, original combinations and 9 design ideas which helped to justify the cost for me. I’m showing Rose Gold/Chrome in this photo.
I decorated my middle finger with the rose gold squares from the pack alternating with ss12 rose gold crystals from my stash attaching each one with a dab of Akzentz Bling-On. By this point the leaf nails where ready for another coat of Akzentz Shine-On.
You have no idea how hard I tried to leave those rose gold glitter nails unadorned! But, in the end, I just couldn’t do it. I thought that this 3mm Rose Gold Tape from WiiNo Shop was the perfect, simple compromise. What do you think?
Here’s a close up look at it for you. It’s interesting to me how the Rose Gold crystals seem to have succumbed to the deeper colors that surround them. Scroll back up if you wish to see how vibrant they really are.
