I thought it would be fun to follow up on yesterday’s prickly post with something a little lighter, more traditional and sweet. And, with this post, I get to welcome another new-to-me indie to the blog: Lacquer Lust. This was my very first bottle!
I received their Candy Corns and Unicorns polish in my All Holo’s Eve Trio Collaboration Box and it became the inspiration for this design. Once I had an idea in my head I popped out to their website to see if I could find a few coordinating polishes. I would have loved to get my paws on Cutie, an orange jelly packed with orange micro glitters, but it was sold out. So I kept looking and I think I found 2 perfect accent polishes. And I have to tell you that Jo is a shipping rockstar!! My pretties arrived so quickly!
I started by applying Lacquer Lust Candy Corns and Unicorns
over my base on every finger expect my ring, which received the royal treatment from Lacquer Lust Simply Royal
. There’s nothing simple about that purple beauty! I finished with a coat of HK Girl Fast Drying Topcoat
on all nails.
I’ve been working on too many designs concurrently and I can’t quite recall the order of events, but I am going to say I started my stamping decal next. I created it on my UberChic mat
using their Halloween 01
plate and Mundo de Unas Orange
. I filled in the design with acrylics, topped it off with OPI Topcoat
and set it aside to dry.
I am so glad they sent a bag of candy corns in the collaboration box! For whatever reason I thought orange was the bottom color and I would have made a complete mess of my decal!
I stamped the ‘Trick or Treat’ design from MoYou London Festive 16 using M Polish Dancing In The Streets. (p.s. They are another new-to-me brand making their 1st appearance on the blog today!) I topped it with another coat of HK Girl, the only topcoat I’ll use when I am stamping.
Next I applied Disturbed Vinyls Zig Zags to my thumb and pinky and filled them in with Fuzzy Navel (the orange you see in the bottle here) and Simply Royal to tie my color scheme together. Sure, I could have stamped the zig zags. But I love using vinyls because they allow me to use the same nail polish I’ve used in my design, without going through the trouble of seeing whether or not that polish will stamp.
Then I embellished my ring finger with 2 Candy Corn Charms. The smaller charm is from Daily Charme
and the larger came from Winstonia
. Both were light weight any stayed in place really well just using topcoat. To my surprise I had to pry them off!
Finally I applied my decal over the dry nail of my index finger and topped it with more OPI Topcoat. I find I get a better result with my stamping decals if I am consistent with the topcoat.

In case you missed my post yesterday, the Hobby Polish Bloggers Group (HPB) I participate in on Facebook is having a Link-up this week and the theme is Halloween. If you are into nails, whether you have a blog or use Instagram or even if you are a polish maker, you should check out this group. Aside from being a really nice bunch of ladies in a drama free environment, they have been an excellent resource to me whenever I have questions. Be sure to scroll down for more information and to checkout their work!
I would love to hear your thoughts on this design! I’ve been so busy creating designs and I am going nuts right now trying to get all of them posted before Halloween. I may be a little slow with replies on social media while I try to achieve this goal. Please be patient and wish me luck!
Thanks for reading! I’ll see you at the next post (which may well be later today!!).
