Hello! I am back with my 2nd of 3 Halloween nail art designs for today. I am excited that this one was created with yet another new-to-me indie brand, Nail Hoot, that I learned about from my blogger friend Manna over at MannasManis.
I know I am going to have a hard time convincing anyone them I am not some crazy bird lady after you see these photos, but I swear I am not. I have never used a owl in a design EVER. But this brand has the cutest logo, as you can see on the bottle above, and it just so happens that I found a surprising, almost alarming, amount of owls in my Halloween nail art paraphernalia. So I decided to go literal with my design.
It began like this. I applied 2 coats of Nail Hoot Kandy Krunch on all of my nails followed by a coat of HK Girl Fast Drying Topcoat. Yes, you read correctly that Karolyn used the same color polish on all 5 nails! I honestly can't recall the last time I've done that.
The brand describes this color as a burnt copper orange polish filled with fiery micro glitters and larger orange and brown glitters. All I would add is that it has a visible metallic sheen. Application was easy and I chose a thicker topcoat to smooth the glittery surface.
Aside from the owl on my thumb that I stamped with UberChic Halloween 01 and Mundo de Unas Black the rest of the design was created from water decals. I was planning to create a 2nd version of my popular 'Cat On The Moon' design from last year and ordered a set of the decals for it from WiiNo Shop.
It's hard to miss the large owl at the top right of the sheet next to my big cat on the moon, so I decided to use that branch and the tree diagonally across. I cut out the decals and then carefully determined where to divide each decal approximately in half for an application that spanned 2 nails. It's easier said than done with nails like mine that dislike posing in a straight line, but I am really happy with the way it turned out.
The finishing touch was to place the Gold Owl Nail Charm from WiiNo Shop on the branches of my ring finger with topcoat.
I've been dabbling with adding props to my photography and I just couldn't resist this necklace when I came across it on sale at Winstonia.

I'm sure you've seen in my previous Halloween posts that the Hobby Polish Bloggers Group (HPB) I participate in on Facebook is having a Link-up this week and the theme is Halloween. They were hoping to get at least 40 entries and said I could add as many designs as I wanted. So I am doing my part to meet that goal!
If you are into nails, whether you have a blog or use Instagram or even if you are a polish maker, you should check out this group. Aside from being a really nice bunch of ladies in a drama free environment, they have been an excellent resource to me whenever I have questions. Be sure to scroll down for more information and to checkout their work!
I would love to hear your thoughts on this design! It is now 1:11AM on October 31st and I have 1 more Halloween post to write after I finish this one. Then I will get some sleep and begin replying to comments here and on social media. Thank you so much for your support and patience! Happy Halloween!
