Today I have a new collection to share with you from Bellaluna Cosmetics, an indie polish maker I introduced you to in early December. Samantha, the hands behind the brand, is back with new polishes in honor of Valentine's Day. Let's take a look!
The "My Pretty Valentine" Collection is made up of two polishes, a color and a topper, that are available for purchase separately. Of course no Valentine's Day Collection is complete without a red polish and the topper is a unique rose gold flake that I'm excited to show you.
Cupid is a pink leaning red crelly polish with just the right amount of ruby shimmer. Samantha's goal was to create an elegant and classy red and I think she hit the mark! The formula is perfect and the polish was fully opaque in two easy coats. It naturally dries down to a matte, slightly textured finish, so I applied two coats of a good topcoat to achieve the high shine look in these photos.
Wild Roses is a clear base topper loaded with rose gold flakes in varying sizes and rose gold holo dust. I've never seen a topcoat quite like this one and I couldn't wait to try it out! For these photos I applied it as you would with a regular polish, using one moderate coat on each nail over a base of Cupid. I didn't fuss with the flakes at all so you could see how they would apply naturally. I finished with a healthy coat of topcoat for a nice, smooth shine.
I wish I'd had more time to create a few different looks for you to see with Wild Roses but I'll have to tell you about them instead. You could use the "dab and spread" technique to apply a lighter coat for a completely different look, or dab it on with a makeup sponge for an even more subtle look. And a glitter gradient from the base or the tip would be stunning! I can't think of a single polish color that wouldn't look great enhanced by this topper!
If you read my review of Bellaluna's Winter 2014 premiere collection you'll know how impressed I was with the formulas and creative colors. I am just as pleased with this collection and really blown away by Wild Roses. It looks amazing over Cupid and I believe it would look just as amazing over any other color you thought to pair it with. While this collection was launched in time for Valentine's Day, both of these polishes are super versatile and can easily be worn year round.
And, just in case you didn't notice, Bellaluna has switched to a really nice silver label that compliments the tall bottle rather nicely. They've also started using a sticker on the bottom of the bottle for the polish name. YAY!
These polishes retail for $8.50 each and are available now. You can connect with Bellaluna Cosmetics using the links provided below.
I would love to hear your thoughts on these polishes! Can you see yourself wearing one of them, or both?
Thank you for reading! I'll see you at the next post.
