Happy Thanksgiving to all of you that, like me, decided to get in a little blog time before going into that Turkey Coma! This was one of those last minute “I need a Thanksgiving manicure” decisions. Since we are still having Fall weather here in New Mexico I chose to do a final nod to the season with a more traditional color scheme before switching into Winter mode.
So I have been trying to be so good and stay away from my Dance Legend polish drawer. But I broke down last week and chose to use them for my “Happy Landing” LeadLight Butterfly design. And, just as I expected, I have reignited my extreme passion for these amazing WOW Prism polishes. I even did the unthinkable and bought more colors! Oh my.
Meet one of my newbies: Dance Legend #26 Bullet for My Valentine. It is a deep, oxblood red with that intense sparkle that comes in every fabulous color in this collection. I starting by applying 2 coats of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter A-Peel on all my nails. I’ve been using this product for a few weeks now and let me just say it is life changing for a glitter polish lover like me! It works amazingly well and nothing else I’ve tried even compares. Then I applied 2 easy coats of Bullet for My Valentine followed up by a coat of HK Girl Fast Drying Topcoat.
I went over my middle finger with 2 coats of OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby followed by more HK Girl to speed drying time. Yes, I know, it’s a satin, topcoat bad. But, finish aside, it was the perfect color for what I am going to do next.
I had the best time picking through my stash to create this “all holo” Fall colored decal! I used so many that I exceeded my personal best for the most polishes used in a single design! So the decal needed it’s own “Product Recap” photo.
From left to right I used OPI Topcoat, KBShimmer Run! It’s The Coppers, Dance Legend #27 Poison, Dance Legend #16 Danger Danger, Colors by Llarowe Obsessed With Marilyn and Literary Lacquers More Like Fire Than Light. The design was from Bundle Monster BM-H12.
Now for the frustrating part of this design. The turkey you see there on my ring finger was supposed to be coated with fabulous gold foil. I am embarrassed to tell you how much time I spent and how many different products and tools I tried to get it to work. Successful combinations on my testing plate did not work on my nails. UGH! I finally succumbed to the failure and stamped the dumb bird in Mundo de Unas Light Gold with a design from Bundle Monster BM-H13.
Fortunately I had some sparkly glitter waiting in the wings to help me bounce back from the foil disaster! I created a glitter gradient on my thumb, index and pinky fingers using Serum No. 5 Leaves You Breathless. This glitter I packed on at the base on my nail was putting off so much sparkle it messed with my camera and ended up looking like excess glare in the photos. The gorgeous blend you see in the bottle is what I saw in person.
I decided my turkey needed a little something extra and recalled receiving Dollish Polish Shake Your Turkey Feather in my last A Box, Indied. It’s a fine multi-color glitter in a clear base and sounded like the perfect polish to apply to shake up my turkey feather with a nail art brush!
Here’s a final look at the completed design. Really close to what I had envisioned aside from the foil. I am going to give that another go with a better etched plate after the holiday.
