Born Pretty Store Nail Shield & Stamping Plate Review + Video Tutorial

Today I have a review for you for three items I selected from the Born Pretty Store and a video tutorial to show you how I created a nail art design using them together. If you happened to have purchased stamping plates from Born Pretty’s original release, this video presents one creative way to use the smaller designs.

Born Pretty Store 9798, 16281, 16852, Zoya Willa, China Glaze Admire, China Glaze Adore, China Glaze Passion, China Glaze Harmony

As you’ll hear in the video, the I chose the nail shield as the focal point for the design. I picked the iridescent stud set because it included a teardrop shape that mimicked the nail shield. I also felt the white color would pick up the pearls in the shield. I didn’t know the designs would be so small when I chose the Born Pretty 05 plate from their original release. But the images stamped great and I decided to use one of the designs for chevron French tips.

Here’s the video review and tutorial from YouTube.

I was really pleased with the way this design turned out. The China Glaze polishes from the Romantique Collection stamped wonderfully over the Zoya Willa black onyx cream polish and the bright, foil colors coordinated so nicely with the gemstones.

I thought the studs played very nicely off of the teardrop shape shield. The best part was that this shield was a pleasure to wear. The back of it is slightly curved to fit the nail and it is well made. The rhinestones are set in so it wasn’t catching on everything like bling of this size often does.

    Great design!

  • Egyptian queen, oh I like that!! I couldn't have been happier with this one and I am thrilled you liked it too Kim! xoxo

  • Great design inspired by that pretty charm! The whole look reminds me of something an Egyptian queen would have worn. Very elegant and powerful! 🙂

  • Thanks so much Anne! It was find trying to find polishes in my stash to bring out the gems! <3

  • This nail art is beautiful!! You really showcased that stud quite well.

  • WOW, that is bizarre! I've had codes give me some unexpected results, but they've always done something! I would like to try to get this resolved for you, but I think we should take it offline. Please reach out to me at [email protected]. I look forward to your message!

  • Thank you very much Jacqui! So glad you enjoyed it! <3

  • No discount at all! I tried many codes, including one given on Born Pretty's blog, but nothing worked. I kept getting a message saying that the code was invalid… Out of frustration, I ordered anyway! lol But I would like to understand why… What about you?

  • craftynail

    gorgeous!!!! seriously gorgeous!

  • Thank you Translucent Mermaid! I am glad you liked the idea and have a renewed purpose for those small designs! I'll will ask my rep about the discount code issue. Can you just clarify for me – do you get any discount at all, or a discount that doesn't seem quite right no matter how you do the math?? I've experienced that one myself!

  • Welcome Joanne! I am so glad you liked my tips! I'd love to see a photo if you try it! You can attach one in Comments, or tag me on IG. 🙂

  • So pretty, it's such a great idea! I have some plates with small designs so I'll surely use it! I like Born Pretty, but the codes never work with me… If I have one item in sale in my cart, the code won't work?

  • I love how you used stamping patterns for the tips. I want to try this sometime.

  • Thank you so much Roberta sweetie! You're pretty awesome yourself! <3

  • Roberta Wilko

I love your manicure more and more every time I see it. You are so awesome!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you Lesley! You should definitely pick them up! I have 6 colors and they all stamp excellent right out of the bottle…no thickening time required. My friend Cassis (cassis_p on IG) works magic with tape and inspired me to start using it more often. Excellent option for your friend with the talons! It will open her up to a whole new world of previously too small designs. 🙂

  • Thank you so much Kat! I hadn't used these polishes in a little while and forgot just how great they work! Highly recommend!! Amazon and eBay both seem to have good stock of them! 🙂

  • Welcome Irma! Thank you very much! I am so glad you enjoyed the design and tutorial. 🙂

  • Love those tips. I have been coveting the Romantique collection since I saw how well they stamped, but I haven't managed to pick up any yet. And I really need to start using tape in my manicures more often. I do my friend's nails every week, and she usually has really long nails, so this sort of thing could open up more choices in my stamping library for her.

  • Woooowwww! This is so pretty! And I need to buy those awesome China Glaze polishes. They stamped so well on your nails!

  • Irma

I LOVE the design and I really like your tutorial! 🙂
