It’s hump day again, which of course means a preview of the plates MoYou London will be releasing this Friday. If you saw the Facebook teaser you already knew to except this expansion to the Gothic Collection they launched last week. Let’s take a look!
There will be 4 new plates released this week including: 1 Regular size (1.5cm x 1.2cm) and 3 Collage Style. I was surprised when the was no Regular size plate in the initial release, so I am happy to see if here.
Here is the Regular size plate. Since there were 2 XL plates last week, they have paired this plate down with 6 fewer designs. In my opinion they choose the best of the bunch to include here, like the pretty lace designs I am so fond of, and left off a few of the less original Halloween designs.
The first Collage plate seems like a bit of a hodge-podge to me. I like the crosses and necklaces, but didn’t see many bows in the research I did about Goth and Gothic symbols. The corners of the border are interesting, but I am not too fond of the rest of it.
Another interesting collaboration on the second Collage plate. It’s the first time we are seeing the Victorian influence and there are some very detailed and interesting designs on this plate that I could see myself using.
I’ll be honest and tell you that I am really not sure what to make of the final Collage plate in this week’s release. I like some of they symbols they’ve included, including the reserve design, but I am just having trouble envisioning a manicure created with this plate.
I was on the fence with the crow about this collection last week and I am still there this week. I realize a Google search on Goth and Gothic imagery only touches the surface of what it truly means to be Goth and I won’t pretend to fully understand. But I saw some wonderful images that I would have loved to have seen incorporated in this collection. I would love to hear how you are feeling about it.
These plates will be available on Friday, October 3rd, and retail for £4.99 (approximately $8.50 depending on the conversion rate. You can purchase them directly from MoYou London. Shipping continues to be FREE for orders over £15!
Thank you for reading! I’ll see you at the next post.
